Surface Engineering
Cobalt Based AlloysLSN Diffusion manufactures a comprehensive range of atomized cobalt based alloys and powder size distribution ranges.
The powders are made by inert gas atomization to meet international standards or formulated to customer specifications. Self-fluxing grades are also available.
LSN Diffusion offers an alloy powder development service (under confidentiality agreement where required) and can manufacture small quantities for customers R&D projects.
LSN Diffusion cobalt based powder alloys may be selected to work optimally in thermal spray, plasma spray, HVOF/HVAF (high velocity oxy/air-fuel), laser and PTA (plasma transferred arc) surfacing techniques.
LSN Diffusion cobalt based surface engineering alloys are applied to enhance wear resistance especially in the presence of high heat and oxidation for example: valves and pump components used in power generation (including nuclear, hydro-carbon and waste to energy), and in the automotive sector.

Atomized powder size distribution
LSN Diffusion processes atomized powder by a combination of air classification and sieving to produce the powder Particle Size Distribution (PSD) to suit the surfacing equipment or brazing application deployed by the customer.
In-line and final Quality Control checks use test sieves and laser diffraction analysis equipment to ensure strict conformance to specification.
LSN Diffusion offers a range of standard PSDs coded to indicate the suitable method of application and equipment.
